The exhibit, Arriving, offers two interconnected series of paintings:
The Omer Seriesand The Sefirot Series: Healing Paintings.
The Omer Series consists of 49 small paintings on paper hung in a grid pattern on the Eastern wall of the Sanctuary. Through the Omer Series the viewer is taken on one leg of a symbolic journey that begins with liberation (freedom) from Egypt (enslavement) and continues for 49 days traveling through the dessert. By traveling through the different states of consciousness and the sensory experiences offered by each of the 49 paintings the viewer arrives at the proverbial foot of Mt. Sinai, open to receive truth, revelation and awareness. This receiving is expressed in the qualities of light, the textures and the colors of the Sefirot Series: Healing Paintings. The Sefirot Series: Healing Paintings are mounted directly on the windows of the sanctuary and are painted in translucent paint on clear plastic. The exhibit title, Arriving, represents the experience that while we enslave and liberate ourselves over and over, we also repetitively journey through different states of consciousness, and we have the potential to arrive again and again at the place where we can open to receive. It references the nature of being human; to be actively arriving but to have not, as yet, arrived.

The exhibit, Henaini (Here I am), consists of a collection of paintings which span three years of work and relate to the development of a conscious self, of identity, and to the embodiment of that identity. Each painting serves as content for an interior conversation for the viewer. The paintings, as well as their titles, provide individually resonant affirmations and intentions. Each of the paintings is oil on ink stained paper, with the occasional use of mud from Death Valley.
D’vorah Horn is a Philadelphia based artist who works in a variety of media. A former resident of Berkeley, D’vorah is a frequent visitor to Whitethorn.
